Goddess Moon Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Jade Rabbit Clouds

There is nothing fussy about this scroll: a moon goddess among clouds, honest brushwork, and room to breathe. The moon goddess has always been a favorite subject, and you can see why — it carries the whole scroll. You'll notice full moon, jade rabbit and clouds woven through the composition, giving the eye somewhere to wander.

Stroke by stroke, the literati manner comes through: ink balanced with light, sparing color. Hang it for the beauty, keep it for the meaning: drifting clouds are the breath of the landscape, always moving. The eye travels the scroll the way you would walk the scene — full moon, then jade rabbit, then the distance beyond. Part of the charm is the upright format — the scene reveals itself as your eyes travel down.

It belongs in calm company: beside a bookshelf, over a tea table, or above a low sideboard. A study, a tea room, a hallway you walk slowly — those are its places. It is a fine example of full moon and jade rabbit Chinese painting, the kind of piece that grows on you.
