Flower and Bird Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Paradise Flycatcher Plum Blossom

This wall scroll is for lovers of flower and bird: a flower-and-bird scene, painted in a relaxed classical style. The flower-and-bird tradition drew painters back for generations; this scroll proves it still has life. You'll notice paradise flycatcher, plum blossom and bamboo woven through the composition, giving the eye somewhere to wander.

As a colorful gongbi bird-and-blossom work, it keeps company with older pieces without imitating them. Plum blossom opens in the cold, the emblem of perseverance, in the old visual language of Chinese painting. The coloring is lively, varied color, in the mineral-pigment manner that ages gracefully. Spring runs through the whole piece: tender new growth, birds returning, branches in blossom. The traditional silk mounting finishes it — no frame needed, nothing to add.

Think of a quiet corner for it — a reading chair's wall, a tea corner, the space above a low cabinet. One nail in a quiet wall — the scroll's entire wish list. It is a fine example of paradise flycatcher and plum blossom Chinese painting, the kind of piece that grows on you.
